The story behind the workshop

Built in 2018 by two technicians who were tired of seeing customers leave with no idea what had been done to their car.

Our beginning

A workshop opened to fix one industry habit

Hisham Iskandar and Vincent Looi met in 2014 working under the same service-bay roof in Subang. After four years of watching the same scene — cars handed back with a stack of paperwork the owner never quite understood — they rented a single-lift shophouse in Damansara Perdana and opened Starcon in March 2018.

The bet was simple: explain everything in plain language, charge what was quoted, and let the work speak. The shop has grown to six lifts and a high-voltage bay, but the rule has not changed.

Principles

Three things we will not compromise on

Show your work

Every finding has a photo. Every fix has a before-and-after. The service report lives in your inbox, not just on a slip of paper that gets thrown away.

Quote first, work second

No tools touch your car until the quote is approved. If we open the gearbox and find something deeper, we stop, photograph, and ask before continuing.

Train the next generation

Four apprentices are with us every year on a paid trade-school placement. The shop pays it forward to the trade that taught its founders.
